Laboratory Synthesis of Molecular Hydrogen on Surfaces of Astrophysical Interest

چکیده

We report on the first results of experiments to measure the recombination rate of hydrogen on surfaces of astrophysical interest. Our measurements give lower values for the recombination efficiency (sticking probability S x probability of recombination upon H-H encounter γ) than model-based estimates. We propose that our results can be reconciled with average estimates of the recombination rate (1/2nHngvHASγ) from astronomical observations, if the actual surface of an average grain is rougher, and its area bigger, than the one considered in models. Subject headings: dust— ISM; abundances — ISM; molecules — molecular processes

Gas temperature dependent sticking of hydrogen on cold amorphous water ice surfaces of interstellar interest.

Using the King and Wells method, we present experimental data on the dependence of the sticking of molecular hydrogen and deuterium on the beam temperature onto nonporous amorphous solid water ice surfaces of interstellar interest. A statistical model that explains the isotopic effect and the beam temperature behavior of our data is proposed. This model gives an understanding of the discrepancy...

Design and Synthesis of Novel N1-(Phenoxyethyl) Theobromine Derivatives and Evaluation of Their Cytotoxicity by in-vitro Method with Molecular Docking Study: A Laboratory Study

Background and Objectives: Cancer, one of the global health problems, has been introduced as one of the main death causes worldwide. Xanthine derivatives have been identified as effective compounds for prevention and treatment of cancer. In this study, a series of novel phenoxy ethyl theobromine derivatives were designed with N1 positioning and their cytotoxic activity was evaluated. Also, mole...

Optimization of Preparation Factors for Cerium Oxide Synthesis as a Support for CO PrOx Catalyst

Nanocrystalline ceria has been considered as support for carbon monoxide preferentially oxidation. In this study ceria was prepared by precipitation method and the effects of preparation conditions, such as pH of solution (8-10), aging time (1-12 hr), drying temperature (80-120 °C), calcination time (2-6 hr) and temperature (400-600 °C) were investigated on ceria synthesized powders properties....

Efficiency of Molecular Hydrogen Formation on Silicates

We report on laboratory measurements of molecular hydrogen formation and recombination on an olivine slab as a function of surface temperature under conditions relevant to those encountered in the interstellar medium. On the basis of our experimental evidence, we recognize that there are two main regimes of H coverage that are of astrophysical importance; for each of them we provide an expressi...

The stopping of low energy ions in reactions of astrophysical interest

The velocity dependence of the stopping power of swift protons and deuterons in low energy collisions with hydrogen and helium gas targets is investigated with the numerical solution of the time-dependent Schrödinger coupled-channels equations using molecular orbital wavefunctions. At low projectile energies the stopping is mainly due to nuclear stopping, charge exchange of the electron, and ex...
